Within the Martin tradition of great sound and beautiful looking guitars, the D1 is no exception. A solid Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides give the D1 clear and precise tones.

Martin D1 Acoustic Guitar (with Case)
Martin.
Review - Feature: No frills, but none needed.
Quality: Seven years, still going strong. I have other, more expensive Martins (D-35, OM-42) and of course they have more extras and better sound and tone, but you cannot beat this for the price. Go the extra couple of hundred rather then pay 3-4 hundred for a guitar that will sound cheap and dissapoint you. You will want to play this one.
Value: Can't find anything that compares at the price.
Desirability: No sex appeal here. Just an outstanding everyday, leave it out to play whenever the mood strikes, get a ding and scratch, sit on the couch, have a beer, walk around the house driving the dog nuts type of guitar.
Sound: Great sound for a guitar, never mind the low price. Records very well. After seven years of playing, is producing a very nice mellow sound.
Support: Martins support is A-1. I had a question on a Sigma (bottom of the Martin line, no big bucks here) and they responded quickly with the information I asked plus more.
Overall: Satisfied:lifelong. Don't plan on replacing it. If lost, yes, I would replace it. Wish I knew how good it was before I bought it. I would have bought it sooner.
